Dr. James T. Violet

James T. Violet, DO is a Board Certified Osteopathic Orthopaedic Surgeon with expertise in shoulder and knee orthopaedic care and sports medicine. Dr. Violet earned his Medical Degree from the University of Health Sciences of Kansas City, MO. He completed his internship at the Pontiac Osteopathic Hospital in Pontiac, MI and his orthopaedic residency program at the Grandview Hospital in Dayton, OH. He completed a fellowship in orthopaedic sports medicine at the Cleveland Clinic.

In undergraduate college, Dr. Violet was the Captain of the football team at Bowling Green State University. He received the Distinguished Service Award and was a member of the Phi Delta Theta Fraternity and the Interfraternity Council.

Dr. Violet holds a patent for a leg stabilizing brace that he invented. His research is published in several peer -reviewed medical journals.

Dr. Violet is a Fellow of the American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopaedics. Dr. Violet is on the Joint Advisory Committee of the Ohio State Medical Association and the Ohio State Athletic Association. He is the Chairman of the Sports Medicine Committee for the Stark County Medical Society. He is the Past President and Vice President of the Committee of Sports Medicine of the American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopaedics and formerly on the editorial board of the Physician and Sports Medicine Journal. Dr. Violet is a member of the American Medical Association, American Osteopathic Association, American College of Sports Medicine, American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopaedics, American College of Osteopathic Surgeons, Ohio State Medical Association, Stark County Medical Association, Eighth District Academy of Osteopathic Medicine, International Arthroscopy Association, North American Arthroscopy Association, and the American Osteopathic Society of Sports Medicine.

Dr. Violet is a regular orthopaedic consultant for area football teams and has served as a team physician for both high school and college sports. Dr. Violet is very active in summer and winter sports. He enjoys snow skiing, basketball, weight lifting, running, biking, football, wrestling, track, and hockey.
