Dr. Steven Coss

Steven Coss, MD is a Partner, Director, Shareholder, Compliance Officer, and a member of the Executive Committee of Spectrum Orthopaedics, Inc. Dr. Coss is a Board Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon with expertise in orthopaedic surgery of the foot and ankle, orthopaedic sports medicine, and total joint replacement. He earned his Medical Degree from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. He completed his internship at the Naval Medical Center in Oakland, CA and his orthopedic surgery residency at the Naval Regional Medical Center in San Diego, CA.

While receiving his education and serving in the United States Navy, Dr. Coss received numerous prestigious awards for his accomplishments and valor. He was the recipient of the Rawling’s Memorial Scholarship and the Armed Forces Health Professional scholarships. During his studies, he received the Wm. A. Gaplin Award, the J.G. Weeks Memorial Scholarship, the Chemistry Pre-Med Award, Departmental Honors in Chemistry, and was a member of the National Honorary Chemistry Society, Phi Lambda Epsilon. His athletic ability was also recognized. Dr. Coss was a four-year Varsity Letterman in football and Captain and Most Valuable Player in football. He was voted the most respected player by his teammates and was honored with the Racky Young Award. Further, he received the Jim Kennedy Award. The United States Navy awarded Dr. Coss the Fleet Hospital Meritorious Service Medal for the US Support Group Haiti for performing humanitarian service, the Naval Commendation Medal for outstanding service while serving as Flight Surgeon Marine of the All Weather Attack Squadron 224, the National Defense Service Medal for service during Operation Desert Shield and Operation Desert Storm, and a Humanitarian Service Medal for service in Oakland during the San Francisco Earthquake. He ranked 96%, 99%, and 89% nationally on three consecutive Orthopaedic In-Service Training Exams. For the last ten years he has scored Outstanding in all military Physical Readiness Testing.

Dr. Coss is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He is a member of the Arthroscopy Association of North America, the Ohio State Medical Association, and the Stark County Medical Society.

Dr. Coss’s research is published in peer-reviewed medical journals.

Dr. Coss is interested in serving his community and others. He is team physician for Tuslaw High School, Glenoak High School, and Canton Legends. In 2005, he participated in a mission trip to Kenya with the World Medical Mission. He performed humanitarian work in Haiti while he was in the service. Additionally, Dr. Coss enjoys spending time with his wife and family. He is an avid reader. He enjoys hiking, golf, and jogging.
