Occupational Therapy
When you lose function or experience pain due to injury, disease, or repetitive stress, occupational therapy helps restore the fine motor skills needed for everyday living.
Improve Fine Motor Skills with Occupational Therapy
When you lose function or experience pain in your hands due to injury, disease, or repetitive stress, you need a skilled and specialized approach to restore your mobility and relieve your discomfort.
At Spectrum Orthopaedics, we offer advanced hand therapy. Our certified hand therapists must complete 4,000 documented patient contact hours, have a minimum of five years of licensed practice experience, and must successfully complete the certified hand therapist examination.
We offer treatment for a wide range of conditions affecting the fingers, hand, wrist, arm, elbow, and shoulder area, including wounds, scars, burns, injured tendons and nerves, fractures, and total amputations. We work with your physician to identify the specific problems you are having and guide you through the stages of treatment. Your hand therapist creates an individualized plan that may include some specialty treatments such as:
- Manual therapy
- Custom splint fabrication or therapeutic taping
- Instrument-assisted soft tissue techniques
- Individualized strength and flexibility programs
- Motor relearning
- Joint protection
- Work stimulation
- Electrical modalities
- Sports-specific therapy
